Privacy Policy

Information we collect

• Account: your email, and name if you provide one. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and basic profile from Google.
• Catches you log: photos, GPS coordinates, species, date/time, and the fishing details and conditions you enter.
• Location: your device location, used to tag catches and center the map. Location is only read when you log a catch or open the map, and only with your permission.
• Messages & meetups: content you send to other users and meetups you create.
• Payments: processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card numbers.

How we use it

• To run the app — store your logbook, show catches on the map, enable messaging and meetups.
• To power the marketplace — buyers who purchase your logbook get access to the catch data in it (including GPS spots and notes). You control your price and what you log.
• To process payments and pay out sellers (via Stripe).
• To fetch fishing conditions (weather, tide, moon) for a catch's location and time from third-party services.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers that make the app work: Stripe (payments), Google (sign-in and maps), our hosting/database providers, and public weather/tide APIs (which receive only a location and time, never your identity). Buyers of your logbook receive the catch data you chose to log — that is the product you are selling.

Aggregated & de-identified data

We combine catch data across all anglers into aggregated, de-identified statistics — for example, how catch rates for a species relate to tide, moon phase, barometric pressure, season, or region. This aggregated data does not identify you or reveal your individual GPS spots, and we may publish, share, or sell it (for research, conservation, or commercial fishing insights). We never sell data that identifies you personally or exposes your private spot coordinates.

Your choices & rights

• Delete your account and all data anytime: Settings → “Delete my account.” This permanently removes your catches, logbook, saved rigs, messages, and meetups.
• Deny or revoke location, camera, and photo permissions in your device settings — the app still works, you just enter locations manually.
• Edit or delete individual catches at any time.

Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is removed from our database. Payment records may be retained by Stripe as required for their legal and financial obligations.

Children

CatchMap is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy; we'll change the date above when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
